Donkey Kong Country Opening at Super Nintendo World in 2024

Spring 2024 is when Donkey Kong will make his grand debut at Super Nintendo World in Universal Studios Japan!

Expanding the existing Super Nintendo World by 70%, Donkey Kong Country looks set to offer a new ride, new merch, and more! Including bongos!

Universal Studios Japan revealed this trailer showcasing the new area, Donkey Kong Country:

New merchandise will also be sold at this fresh area of the park, of which you can find below, via VGC:

A CGI trailer showcasing the Donkey Kong World appears to show a new store themed on Funky Kong, and a bongos mini-game. Like the Mario area, it will also feature interactive elements and themed merchandise and food.

DK Vine also reported on the news, highlighting the Power-Up Bands:

We have our first look at the Power-Up Bands that will be introduced with Donkey Kong Country. Also used as amiibo for Nintendo Switch, these enhance the park experience with interactive elements throughout the park.

They're using the 'DD' nomenclature from Tropical Freeze's barrels for Diddy rather than using his "Star Athletics" emblem which is used in Mario Kart games, although the stars do appear on the wrist itself. Meanwhile, Donkey Kong has the traditional 'DK' and a bunch of bananas.

Throughout all of the promotional images so far, DK, Diddy, Dixie, Squawks, Rambi and Cranky have been spotted from the classic Rare-era cast, along with antagonist Tiki Tong of Retro Studios Wii outing, Donkey Kong Country Returns.

Spring 2024 is the intended opening date in Osaka, and the US counterpart, Orlando, it set for 2025.
