Early Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate update bringing cross-region multiplayer, Off-TV play, plus DLC

Capcom has revealed that those who buy Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate on Wii U will be able to download new features free of charge "shortly after release".

The publisher confirmed that a software update would be issued for the title, which will allow gamers from Europe to connect and play online with gamers from North America. It had been previously announced that online multiplayer would be region-specific.

Also, the same software update will introduce an Off-TV play feature, meaning players will be able to play Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate just on the GamePad. All current builds of the game - including the demo on the eShop - have the GamePad used for map and inventory management.

And that's not all. Capcom also announced that there will be "frequent free downloadable content" released from day one.

Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate releases on March 22nd, for both Wii U and 3DS. The 3DS version features only local multiplayer as well as the single player campaign.
