ECTS 2003: 1080 Avalanche Hands-On

1080 debuted in 1998, and it's taken a hefty 5 years for the sequel to appear. I'm not usually a big fan of snowboarding games, because basically I'm crap at them all, but playing 1080 may have changed my mind.

This plays a little like Amped, but 1080 shows off neat snow effects and smooth graphics which will please many. While playing, I noticed how easy the controls are. The game is excellently designed around the Gamecube controller, with no bending fingers oddly to perform tricks.

While gliding down a slope, jumping over logs and rocks, mucking up tricks and falling over, I realised that for me, this game is just another snowboarding game with updated graphics and a few tweaks here and there to make it better than the rest of the pack.

Good game if you're into snowboarding games, but if your like me and aren't too keen on them and are rubbish at playing them, then stay clear or at least rent before you buy. Don't get me wrong - it's still a good game, it's just not for me, and I believe a lot of people will feel the same.
