Jump Rope Challenge gets a surprise release

Due to the whole Covid-19 affair the Nintendo devs are working from home as well, and the lack of movement may have triggered a bunch of them to come up with Jump Rope Challenge. This small title makes a surprise appearance on the Nintendo eShop, and can be downloaded for free today.

The goal? To grab a pair of Joy-cons and use them to do 100 skips a day as if you are jumping with a jump rope. For everyone who is housebound as well for most of the time this is a great little way to get a bit of exercise in your daily routine.

If you want to get moving you can download Jump Rope Challenge for free until the end of September 2020. The full press release can be found below!

CAN YOU SKIP 100 TIMES A DAY? FIND OUT IN JUMP ROPE CHALLENGE, OUT NOW FOR FREE ON NINTENDO SWITCH

Created by a small group of Nintendo developers while working from home in Japan

16th June 2020 – Jumping is the simple target in Jump Rope Challenge, now available for Nintendo Switch in Nintendo eShop and through the game page for free as a limited-time release until the end of September.

By using a pair of Joy-Con controllers and imagining them as the handles of a skipping rope,

players can virtually jump rope every day – it’s all the fun of skipping, but there’s not a rope in sight! Two household members can jump in and play together to reach the high score, with each person holding one Joy-Con. With hopping bunnies as the characters, simple menus and no tutorials to skip through, it’s quick and easy to learn the ropes and get started.

For those who aren’t able to jump, or are worried about disturbing the downstairs neighbours, players can bend their knees or move their arms to play the game without creating any noise.

Jump Rope Challenge was created by a small group of Nintendo developers while working from home in Japan, as a simple activity to add some quick and fun movement into their daily life.

Jump Rope Challenge, a skipping exercise, is now available for free on Nintendo eShop as a limited-time release until the end of September 2020.
