5th Cell has announced that characters from Nintendo's Mario and Zelda franchises will appear in Scribblenauts Unlimited.

As you can see from the image above, Maxwell will be joined by some familiar faces.  Mario, Luigi, Yoshi, Princess Peach, Link, Zelda, Goron and Epona will all feature in Scribblenauts Unlimited.

A Warner Bros. Interactive represented stated that the characters must be discovered within the game, but "will behave in the fun and fantastical ways they do in their respective game worlds".

Anyone hoping for a fire-breathing Yoshi or sparkly Epona may be disappointed, as adjectives cannot be applied to the Nintendo characters.

These characters will be exclusive to the Wii U version of the game, so owners of the Nintendo 3DS or PC versions will miss out on the fun.

The Scribblenauts series first started on the Nintendo DS and the newest title, Scribblenauts Unlimited, is launching alongside the Wii U next month.
