The yearly cycle of EA Sports' games is nearly here, and the sequel to the Wii's Madden NFL 07 is set for some improvements.

The main game will essentially be the same, bar the usual roster updates. The controls will be similar to the first Wii Madden, with possibly a few refinements. So, if the main single player is the same, what's the point in it?

Well, the multiplayer will be expanded for the Wii version of the game, via Party Mode. The party mode will has 22 minigames, such as 40-yard dash, and also include a trivia quiz. Your performance in party mode will be recorded, and your Mii will be given a rating out of 99.

Madden 08 will also have an online mode, which will let you play against both friends and random opponents. The system will use EA's online system, not Nintendo's, so you will use an EA Profile rather than a friend code. It will have online leaderboards, and there will be a "5-star reputation score", which presumably will help identify disconnectors.
