Miyamoto wants to re-add the 'stress' to Pikmin 3

Pikmin 3 will bring back the stressful feeling of the original Gamecube launch title - that's if Shigeru Miyamoto gets his way.

In an interview with GamesMaster (via ONM), Miyamoto spoke of the aim with Pikmin 2 to get rid of the elements that made the original difficult to access for some - mainly the daily and over-arching time limits.

"Our main aim in Pikmin 2 was to get rid of any stress as much as possible, so that it would be very user-friendly. Well, I myself couldn't agree with that direction perfectly. That kind of nature of Pikmin 1 was exactly what I wanted to reproduce and I was actually intentionally doing so, so that Pikmin 1 could be a strategic game."

It sounds like Miyamoto desires to bring this element of strategy back with this year's Pikmin 3, suggesting that the feel of the game will be more akin to the original than its sequel.

"When we started creating Pikmin 3 I gathered the main members who worked on Pikmin 2 and talked about how I thought it was important to get back to the basics of Pikmin 1. Or I should say that half of my job at that time wasn't just to talk, but rather to persuade them to understand what I intended to do and to agree to my idea."

Pikmin 3 was originally conceived as a Wii title, but was later shifted to Wii U to be an early launch window game. As is tradition, the Miyamoto-developed game has seen some delays and is now scheduled to release in the second quarter of 2013.
