While Pikmin 3 has been out for a few months now, Nintendo is keen to get players to keep coming back.

During today's Nintendo Direct, a new set of downloadable content for the beloved title was announced.  Nintendo promises the new challenges will make you really have to think about how to use your Pikmin effectively.

This third update for Pikmin 3 also brings brand new stages within Mission Mode.  These include real world locations such as a beach, a factory, a construction site and even someone's house.

Fans of the original GameCube titles will be pleased to hear that Captain Olimer will be playable in one of these levels.

Joining him is his bumbling friend Louie, who has found himself captured.  If you find and recover him, you'll be able to control him alongside Olimar too.

The new content contains four Collect Treasure levels and four Battle Enemies levels and will be available from December 2nd.

In addition to this, a game patch will be released that will add one Collect Treasure level and one Battle Enemies level for free.
