News: Cube to get Serious

Serious Sam has been confirmed for a GameCube release sometime later this year.

Climax development studios has announced a release of the well-known PC first person shooter "Serious Sam" on the GameCube and PS2 for sometime this year, details are setchy at best but from what we know the game will most likely be an updated version of the game that was released on the Xbox in 2002.

Called "Serious Sam: The Next Encounter" for GC and PS2, the game was largely overlooked on the Xbox, probably due to it bing a pretty lacklustre re-hash of the PC original and lacking imagination. I can't really see many people taking this game... "seriously"

UPDATE: Serious Sam is still making its' way to a Gamecube near you, but under a different moniker on our beloved box of purple fun. Although Take-Two interactive have released no official word on the name change, the game is now appearing on Nintendo.com as: Serious Sam: Word to the Mothership.

While such a change might appear insignificantto the naked eye, this could easily mean that we may well be getting a "toned-down" version of the game, and so a name-change to distinguish it from the PS2 version is necessary. More news as we have it.
