News: Eclipse from Konami

Konami revealed today Eclipse, a secret title in development now for GameCube. Behind the game is the legendary Hideo Kojima, the man behind Metal Gear Solid.

Hideo Kojima hinted that he'd like to make his next game for the GameCube, involving the theme of "father and son." Eclipse is the codename for that title.

Here's what said Konami representative Yugatabi Kidenmi had to say about it:

"Eclipse is about legacy and destiny, about how a man must surpass his father, or wallow forever in his shadow. In many ways, it has been inspired by Kojima's own son; it's also about how Kojima is trying to surpass the man he is known to be, the man of Solid Snake and giant Mechs."

"So then, is Eclipse going to be a "kiddier" Kojima? Can you imagine a Kojima game with smiley clouds? Eclipse will retain the same serious but witty tone of Kojima's past works."

Eclipse (or whatever the game turns out to be called) is set for a 2004 release and will be shown in some form at this years E3.
