News: HMV Won't Trade-In RE: Mercenaries

HMV has announced that trade-ins on Resident Evil: The Mercenaries 3D won't be accepted.

A few days ago it was discovered that saved data on Resident Evil: The Mercenaries 3D can't be deleted. While a few games have forced similar restrictions in the past this news has resulted in a swarm of shock, dissatisfaction and industry response.

Following the discovery American retailer GameStop announced it wouldn't be accepting trade-ins, although they quickly changed their mind the next day. UK retailer HMV however are saying that they won't be accepting trade-ins according to VG247.

HMV's PR manager Gennaro Castaldo told VG247 that they have taken this action to "avoid any potential customer disappointment for those purchasing a pre-owned version". The company will still stock the game when it is released this Friday but won't allow you to trade it back in against future purchases.

At present no other retailers have indicated they will be following HMV's practice.
