News: Infogrames and Konami deal

French developer and publisher Infogrames has made a deal with Konami that enables them to publish Konami's games in Japan.

Infogrames, has been growing heavily lately, for example by buying brand Atari. Now they're looking for ways to enter the Japanese market. Konami has a strong hold there, and is therefore the right partner to team up with.

From June 2002, Infogrames Japan KK, the subsidiary formed in 2000, will start a publishing activity beginning with Infogrames Group titles most readily adaptable for the Japanese gamer and will focus initially on Infogrames strong racing line-up which include titles such as V-Rally or NASCAR.

Thomas Schmider, President and Chief Operating Officer of Infogrames Entertainment SA said: "We are really delighted to have entered into an agreement with one of the leading Japanese Distributor. We are convinced that Konami's extensive distribution network throughout Japan will significantly enhance our ability to reach the all-important Japanese gaming audience with our products."
