News: More Mario & Sonic Titbits

ONM confirms a couple of disappointing (but perhaps unexpected) omissions from Mario and Sonic's new Olympic collaboration...

In a new ONM preview, it has been confirmed that Mario & Sonic at the London 2012 Olympics will feature neither online play or Wii MotionPlus compatibility.

Sega's apparent reason for lack of MotionPlus support is that it wants everyone to enjoy the highly-lucrative series on the same level, and many people may not own MotionPlus accessories. Still, as ONM notes, the decision might leave the game somewhat technically behind Nintendo's own 2009 sports compilation Wii Sports Resort.

A reason for no online play for either the Wii or 3DS version was not made clear, but this is the third Mario & Sonic at the Olympics iteration where no Wi-Fi competitive modes have been made available.

To learn more about the Wii version's intriguing Dream Events and how the 3DS version of the game will try to offer something unique, be sure to give ONM's article a read.
