News: No Plans To Bundle Resort With Wii

Nintendo denies plans to replace the original Wii Sports with its 1:1 younger brother as the console's bundle piece...

The original Wii Sports was arguably a masterstroke on the part of Nintendo. Giving an accessible and fun demonstration of the Wii Remote and a glimpse of the potential for other games; it was the perfect free pack-in, and one that helped ship fifty million consoles to this date.

However, the release of Wii Sports Resort alongside MotionPlus has led some to wonder whether that game may not be a more suitable enticement for consumers. Nintendo of Canada's Matt Ryan on the other hand, thinks differently.

"The long-term plan is difficult to say, but I can tell you that there are no plans to make Wii Sports Resort what is packed in with the Wii purchase. What is in the Wii box will remain the same. Wii Sports Resort will not replace Wii Sports. The intention with Wii Sports was to provide an out of the box experience for consumers and we want new consumers and non-owners to experience that just as everybody else has."

Ryan also went on to promise Nintendo will be putting out "a lot more" MotionPlus-enabled titles in the future. The only other announced Nintendo game to utilise the peripheral is the upcoming Span Smasher.
