News: Ocarina of Time 3D Sells Well in America

In under 11 days on sale in America The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D was the 2nd biggest selling game of June.

It seems that The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D may well be the big 3DS game everyone was waiting for as it has been doing well all over the world. In spite of only being available for 11 days the title was the second biggest game of June in America and helped to shift 143,000 3DS units.

During the span of those 11 days 283,000 The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D units were sold according to the NPD group, who independently monitor sales performance. Nintendo was so proud of the sales figures that they released their own press release that included a few more figures to consider. 800,000 Nintendo hardware units were sold during June; 143,000 3DS units, 386,000 DS units and 273,000 Wii units.

All of these consoles saw double digit growth over the previous month, which would be cause for celebration within Nintendo but that's not all. This push saw the Nintendo Wii's installation base in the USA surpass 36 million units during its lifetime. That's a lot of potential gamers to play The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword when it is released later this year.
