News: Ocarina of Time 3DS Titbits

Nintendo Power divulges some of the visual and control updates for the imminent remake of the timeless epic...

As sites and magazines ramp up their Ocarina of Time 3DS coverage, more and more details of the impressive-looking remake come to light. Nintendo Power recently ran a preview (via GoNintendo) divulging some fresh information about what's new.

On the visual front, all room interiors in the game are now fully polygonal constructs, replacing the pre-rendered feel of some locations in the original. The Kokiri Forest store has had a particularly robust make-over, featuring a "sign made from a giant leaf", posters on the wall and various bags of goods in the background. Characters still often fade into view as you approach them.

Mechanically, the game has also had some tweaks. You can now set four items to be instantly equipped: two on the touch screen and one each on the X and Y buttons. Moreover, the ocarina itself doesn't need to be equipped, getting its own little place on the touch screen. The ocarina can be played by using either the touch screen or buttons but, tragically, seemingly not by blowing into the microphone.

Finally, the first-person view is to be toggled on or off using the touch screen. It had previously been confirmed that players can use the 3DS' built-in gyroscope to aim Link's sights while utilising first-person weapons.

The long-awaited 3D remake is due out next month; just days after E3.
