News: OOT 3D To Feature One Orchestral Song

The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D will feature one orchestral song but Nintendo won't tell us which one.

The newest Ask Iwata to be translated is focused on the music featured in the highly anticipated The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D, due out worldwide in just two weeks. The Japanese version was released recently and a translation suggested that the Ocarina of Time 3D soundtrack may be updated in some way.

Now that the feature has been given an official translation into English we know that the game's soundtrack has indeed been improved to make use of the 3DS' surround sound. In addition to this composer Mahito Yokota has included an orchestral song, although he won't mention which one.

The discussion notes that the surround sound on the system was an important aspect of its design and The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D makes full use of it. One particular example Nintendo president Satoru Iwata gives is the 'Super Cucco Game', whereby you have to save three cuccos, during which it sounds as if cuccos are all around you thanks to the system's surround sound.

The team discussed a lot more about the music featured in the game, and can be read in the full discussion, but when asked by Mr. Iwata what his favourite Zelda song was Mahito Yokota chose 'Zelda's Lullaby', which he apparently practiced on the piano for his entrance exam for Nintendo. Let us know what your favourite song from the series is in the comments section below.
