Put your whiskies down - Nintendo has some news to calm your nerves.

There was some feeling of anxiety earlier, when Nintendo announced that the original Pikmin would be re-released on Wii under the aptly-named "Play on Wii" range. Some feared that it was this GameCube remake which was being spoken of by Shigeru Miyamoto when he referred to a Pikmin title being under development for Wii just after E3 - and not a wholly new game.

But fear not, a Nintendo rep recently confirmed to our friends at Kombo that a third, brand new Pikmin game is still being developed, totally different from the "Wii-make". Interestingly, no system for Pikmin 3 was actually confirmed, but it's assumed it will release on Wii. There was also still no hint at a release frame.

So that's one panic over, but we still can't wait to hear more morsels on Pikmin 3.
