News: Reggie: No Brawl &#39Til Autumn?

Nintendo President Reggie Fils-Aime has said that Europe won't see Smash Bros. Brawl until the third quarter.

Reporting back from last week's GDC, 1UP's podcast brings us the following devastating news:

"In terms of us [North America] getting Wii Fit and Mario Kart after Europe, we're like, what about that? And he [Reggie] is like "well, they don't get Smash Bros. 'til Fall, and they have to position these things ... It's more about hardware, in January when Smash Bros. and Wii Fit hit Japan, they got the lion's share of the 1.8m units they could produce every month, so in March, the U.S. will get the lion's share of the 1.8m units for Smash Bros. So in May, when Wii Fit hits, once again, they can re-allocate to America."

On the one hand, this is definitely not an official announcement from Nintendo. On the other, it's hard to see how this could have been reported wrongly. If you want to hear it for yourself, the podcast is available to listen to/download over at 1UP here, the Reggie section is around the 45-55 minute mark.
