News: Resident Evil Revelations Raid Mode Revealed

Capcom reveals the mode in Revelations you'll be able to take online...

Capcom has revealed an all new mode set to debut in Resident Evil Revelations on 3DS early next year.

Raid Mode is seemingly a modified take on the staple Mercenaries mini-game. In it, you'll play as either Jill Valentine or Chris Redfield to eliminate enemies in scenarios from the main campaign.

You will earn points for proficient killing which will be totted up at the end to give you a rank. You will also collect loot and parts to upgrade your weapons.

Raid Mode is playable in both single-player and two-player variations - the latter allows you to team up with a fellow survivor either locally or over the internet.

Tsukasa Takenaka, one of the game's producers, told Eurogamer the developer's take on the mode.

"The story mode in the game is something we created with the single-player experience in mind. I would like everyone to play the game in their bedroom with the lights off and headphones on. That's the way to experience the mode. At the same time, these games we create, we know they're really enjoyable when you're able to share some of that experience with a friend. Multiplayer is very important and that communication is something that resonates with everyone. We felt putting Raid Mode in, in this kind of structure, allowed us to do that for this game as well."

Resident Evil Revelations is one of the first games to make optional use of the Slider Pad extension. Capcom has also confirmed that the western version will include the Japanese voice-overs, and will allow players to reset their save data - a lack of such a feature had previously caused a bit of a headache with The Mercenaries 3D.

The game is due out in Europe on January 27th.
