It was perhaps a bit of surprise when Nintendo announced they were to localise Solatorobo: Red the Hunter in Europe. The DS RPG, developed by the team behind the .hack series, was released in Japan under Namco Bandai's banner late last year.

Solatorobo sees you assume the role of Red Savarin, a 17 year old anthropomorphic dog, on a journey through the mythical floating islands of the Shepherd Republic.

As well as a hefty main adventure, additional modes let players focus on fighting against giant mech enemies to build up battle experience, and embark on over 70 quests to hoard cash in order to increase Red's 'Hunter level'.

Solatorobo: Red the Hunter promises over 20 hours of gameplay, and will launch across Europe on July 1st. For more information, Nintendo has opened the game's official website here.
