THQ Signs Video Games Deal with Disney, Pixar

LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - Video game publisher THQ Inc. said on Wednesday it signed a deal with the game arm of Walt Disney Co. and with Pixar Animation Studios Inc. to publish games based on their next three films.

Calabasas Hills, California-based THQ said it has acquired the game rights for "Finding Nemo," "The Incredibles," and "Cars." Those films are set for summer 2003, the 2004 holiday season and the 2005 holidays, respectively.

Under the deal, THQ has the right to publish games based on the movies through 2008 for desktop computers as well as any game system manufactured by Sony Corp (news - web sites). , Microsoft Corp. or Nintendo (news - web sites) Co. Ltd.

THQ has produced games for handheld systems based on the Pixar films "Toy Story," "A Bug's Life," "Toy Story 2," and "Monsters, Inc.", all of which were major successes both in theaters and as games.
