Nintendo confirms free Mewtwo DLC for Smash Bros. 3DS & Wii U owners

Nintendo has elaborated on the bonus incentives revealed last month for those who pick up both the 3DS and the Wii U version of 2014's biggest game, Super Smash Bros.

It was announced that a bonus fighter would be made available free of charge to everyone who buys and registers both versions. Nintendo has now confirmed that that bonus fighter - the original Pokémon badass Mewtwo - will be distributed to all who register both versions of Smash on Club Nintendo by March 31st. Those who do so will receive download codes for both versions of the game.

Nintendo also confirmed that Mewtwo would be made available as paid DLC for everyone else at a later date. That said, the company said it had no plans for further paid DLC for Smash Bros. at this time.

That's not the only incentive for buying both versions though. If you register both versions on Club Nintendo by January 20th, you will also receive a free double-CD bundle containing a whopping 72 tracks taken from across both the handheld and home console version.

The Wii U version of Super Smash Bros. is out on November 28th. If your twitching fighting fingers cannot wait that long, check out our Smash Bros. 3DS review.
