Nintendo Direct Roundup

Phew, what a Nintendo Direct!

Now that the dust has settled and I've managed to re watch it as a fan rather than attempting to live tweet the entire thing and going cross eyed in the process, it seems it's been a mainly positive reaction to what Nintendo showed off this past Thursday night.

And with that, here's a list of all the games that were shown with a brief summary for your perusal; be sure to get involved on the forums and let us know what you made of it all.

Nintendo 3DS

Dillon's Dead Heat Breakers

Finally getting released to the world by May 25th in Europe. This is the next game in the underrated series which will see you playing as Dillon and as an animal companion based on your Mii, get ready to roll into action later this year.

Mario and Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story + Bowser Jr's Journey

What's this? A Nintendo DS game getting ported to the 3DS?!? Well, it is supposed to be one of the best entries in the series and now it will have extra content in similar vein to the earlier Superstar Saga re-release, expect this in 2019.

Luigi's Mansion

Wait... a Nintendo GameCube game getting ported to the 3DS?!? What is this madness... well, regardless we did get a sequel to Luigi's Mansion on the 3DS a few years ago, so this should fit in nicely, expect this in 2018.

Wario Ware Gold

This series is famed for its wacky micro games, there will be 300 in this huge collection where the aim of them is quick reactions and some often brilliant humour contained within, this will be released on 27th of July 2018.

NINTENDO SWITCH

Sushi Striker: The way of Sushido

A competitive puzzle game based around Sushi which has a lot of anime cutscenes and looks generally rather original, previously announced for the 3DS, the Switch is now getting a bite of the sushi-samurai-esque action.

Dark Souls

Praise the Sun! Quite literally, as the Solaire Astora amiibo allows you to perform this move as and when you like in the game. Dark Souls remastered will also be getting a network test before it's launch in May.

Crash Bandicoot N.Sane Trilogy

The original Crash Bandicoot, which has already been released on the PS4, is spinning its way on to Switch this July. Rumours of an enclosed rubber case for your Switch to help it survive being thrown around the room being packed in are just that at the moment.

South Park: The Fractured But Whole

This game was very well received after its initial release in PS4 and Xbox One, and is sure to do wonders to help Nintendo throw off the image of being a "kiddie company". But Stan, Eric, Kenny and Cartman look so cute in their superhero outfits...

Mario Tennis Aces

After the...lukewarm reception of Ultra Smash on the Wii U, Aces has got a lot to prove to fans of Mario's sports titles. Luckily, the Direct showed off a lot of game play to hopefully help you decide if this is for you or not.

Captain Toad's Treasure Tracker

Cute. Adorable. Clever...but that's enough about site editor Ashley Jones. The Wii U fan favourite is coming to Switch, and this time with some Super Mario Odyssey themed stages too.

Undertale

I mean, it's coming... eventually.

Little Nightmares

The dark exploration-based platformer which has you taking on the role of "Six" - a faceless girl in a yellow raincoat - sees you escaping from some really grotesque characters in the realm of "The Maw" after you get lured there by the smell of food as you try to satisfy your hunger, though it seems that in this place you may have bitten off more than you can chew, as you might become food yourself! Honestly this game does seem rather dark from the outset but the Switch exclusive Pac-Mac raincoat - obtained by using the amiibo - should help lighten the mood... a bit.

Octopath Traveller

A much-touted Switch exclusive RPG from Square-Enix which incorporates a striking art-style and some really innovative gameplay mechanics, we got to see two more characters which will be in the game, offering many more ways to interact with the world and it also seems that you can have two jobs per character which will surely add even more strategy to the mix. But honestly, this seems like a very original RPG and I'm sure that it will do very well indeed when it launches on 13th July 2018 alongside a Special Edition.

Splatoon 2 DLC

The Ocoto Expansion was revealed for release in July; encompassing a new story line and 80 new single player stages to Splat your way through. Also a version 3.0 for the game as a whole was announced too.

Super Smash Bros Switch

The megaton, proving that anything can and will be announced during a Nintendo Direct. Super Smash Bros is COMING TO NINTENDO SWITCH. And calm.

And that's pretty much it for this summary of events but if you want to see the Nintendo Direct for yourself or just rewatch it then be sure to below.
