Nintendo eShop new releases (week 04)

A selection of new titles are now available on the Nintendo Switch eShop. Including...

The highlight... Arcade Archives Pistol Daimyo No Bouken, which is a scrolling shooter originally released by Namco in 1990, because why wouldn't you want to play an Eastern-centric shmup in which you get to battle against spirits, evildoers and cultists? Just from looking at the video, while the stages are short, the game certainly offers a wild theme for such a title which is generally lacking from games today, aside from in these re-releases. Well done to Hamster for putting out an Arcade Archives title just about every week since the Switch was first released, nearly five years ago.

Deal of the week... Cogen: Sword of Rewind, because although this is perhaps a pricey digital title at just over twenty pounds, the game looks like it has a high level of production, made by Gemdrop Game Studios, with music from Motoi Sakuraba (his credits date back to 1989 and include Road Avenger on the Sega Mega CD, Tales of Phantasia on the SNES and too many other titles to list) plus a well-polished time-rewind mechanic, coupled with sword fighting and platforming.

Award for "This is a game?!?" goes to... Starlight Shores, because if there was ever a type of game which the Switch eShop surely needs more of, then it's Visual Novels with a focus on "Romance" as people surely can't get enough of these interactive experiences, which really respect the player. [/Sarcasm] (Each to their own but, out of all types of modern games which have seemingly overrun the market, I don't understand the appeal beyond the obvious selling points)

Worth checking out... the writeup for Angelo and Deemon: One Hell of a Quest, as the developers seem to really know what they are selling with this game, and are very clear about what it doesn't feature. (No pixel art graphics!)

Check out the list and click on the link at the bottom of the page to view them on the eShop, and from there you can access each game page.
