Q1/Q2 GameCube promotions in US

Nintendo of America has revealed their promotional plans today for the GameCube and GBA. Full details below.

NBA Jam Van
Timing: Jan. 8 – April 14
NINTENDO GAMECUBE, featuring the all-new Nintendo sports title NBA Courtside 2002, is the exclusive video game system of the NBA Jam Van video arcade

The NBA Jam Van is a 68,000 pound, 18-wheel vehicle that transforms to reveal 5,000 square feet of interactive basketball activities, including NINTENDO GAMECUBE, baskets for shooting and dunking and a 110@ x 78@ video wall display with the latest NBA videos, NBA.com TV programming and actual NBA broadcasts from TBS and TNT.

The tour launched in San Diego and is traveling the country throughout the remainder of the NBA regular season, including a stop during NBA All-Star 2002 at the NBA All-Star Jam Session, February 7 – 10, at the Pennsylvania Convention Center. MTV Mardi Gras
Timing: Feb. 4 and 5
MTV and NINTENDO GAMECUBE join forces in New Orleans for Mardi Gras 2002, where they will celebrate the biggest party the Big Easy has ever seen. MTV’s Carson Daly and Britney Spears are set to host “MTV’s Mardi Gras 2002” featuring live music performances by No Doubt, Mystikal, and Blink 182. Celebrities stopping by to keep the party going will be Jimmy Kimmel, Adam Carolla, Molly Sims, and Good Charlotte’s Benji & Joel, just to mention a few.

NINTENDO GAMECUBE is a core sponsor of MTV’s Mardi Gras outreach and will be featured in on-air promos and billboards.

Spalding
Timing: Feb. 25 – May 31
Like a jump ball, NINTENDO GAMECUBE and NBA Courtside 2002 are up for grabs in this three-and-a-half month long contest with Spalding, manufacturer of the official NBA basketball.

Header cards and shelf danglers will promote the sweepstakes at retail locations throughout the country.

MTV Campus Invasion
Timing: March – April
Nintendo joins Jeep, Johnson & Johnson and Proctor & Gamble as a sponsor of the “MTV Campus Invasion” tour visiting approximately 20 colleges this spring with all new music and experiences.

The MTV Campus Invasion is bringing new music to the people who love it with live evening performances. Prior to the concerts students can hang out in MTV's interactive village, where they can touch, feel, see, hear and be MTV.

NINTENDO GAMECUBE will be branded in association with The Expo, MTV’s daytime interactive music area and featured on billboards and in promotions. Additionally, NINTENDO GAMECUBE will receive mentions during the Campus Invasion Tour Special, running two weeks prior to the event, and in video-based tour programming airing that will feature bands and tour highlights.

Tour highlights will be broadcast on MTV and MTV2 and promoted on MTV.com.


Game Boy Advance
General Mills Go-Gurt

Timing: Jan. 15 – Feb. 28
Nintendo’s “Anytime, Anywhere” Game Boy Advance and General Mills’ “Grab n’ Go” Yogurt are the perfect portable partners, teaming up for an instant-win promotion.

Chances to win a Game Boy Advance are included in more than 80 million packages of Go-Gurt.


Pokémon
Carl’s Jr./Hardee’s

Timing: Feb. 20 – April 2
Nintendo is teaming with Carl’s Jr. and Hardee’s for a six-week long Pokémon Kid’s Meal program featuring plastic Pokémon Cup Toppers with Pikachu, Mewtwo, Totodile and Charizard distributed in all Kid’s Meals.

Custom-themed meal bags, large window posters, in-store banners, translites and drive-thru posters will decorate all participating Carl’s Jr. and Hardee’s restaurants.

Pokémon will be featured on the restaurants’ dedicated “Cool Kids” Web site.

Frigo Cheese
Timing: February - April
Pokémon invade the cheese aisle on more than six million packages of Frigo Cheese Heads.

Cheese-lovers will have a chance to win Game Boy Advance systems and Pokémon Crystal games at any of the more than 5,000 retail locations nationwide where Frigo cheese is sold.
