Sakurai resolves to complete Smash Bros. for 2014 release

Masahiro Sakurai has re-stated his commitment to completing Super Smash Bros. for a 2014 release.

In a feature by Japanese magazine Famitsu, a number of developers were asked for their personal resolutions for the new year. The Smash Bros. director stated in no uncertain terms: "I resolve to complete development on Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS/Wii U and release it in 2014."

The all-stars brawler is being developed simultaneously for both Wii U and 3DS - the first time the series has come to a handheld. New playable characters will include the Villager from Animal Crossing, Megaman, and Rosalina and Luma from Super Mario Galaxy.

As well as working with Nintendo, Sakurai's Sora studio is also collaborating with Namco Bandai on the project.
