Sega Announces Year of Shadow

Our favourite gun wielding emo ‘hog is up to all sorts this year, with special events occurring in a multitude of media, all themed around our sullen anti-hero.

Donned “Fearless: Year of Shadow”, this campaign from SEGA celebrates everything Shadow, with in-game events, movies and more!

The Year of Shadow kicks off this week with a real life replica of Shadow’s iconic motorcycle, the Dark Rider, which will be showcased at the MotoGP Red Bull Grand Prix of the Americas, in Austin Texas, from April 12th to the 14th.

The Sonic Symphony World Tour will also now feature original Shadow the Hedgehog scores as part of the line up! We went to the tour back in September last year, and would happily recommend it to any Sonic fan, especially now that it has added Shadow the Hedgehog spice! It seems that current dates are only for America, but we’ll keep our eyes peeled for if the tour comes back to Europe. You can get tickets, locations and tour dates here.

If you can’t make it to the symphony, or are unable to view Shadow’s motorcycle in real life down in Texas, then you can make your own Shadow and hog, with this nifty LEGO set:

These are just some of the exciting events and products announced for Shadow’s big year, as well as the upcoming videogame release Sonic X Shadow Generations, and upcoming movie Sonic the Hedgehog 3.

There’s an official site for the Year of Shadow, detailing all of the events and products planned, which you can view here.

Here’s what SEGA have to say about the fearless year ahead:

In 2024, we're bringing Shadow into the light with a new fan celebration campaign – Fearless: Year of Shadow.
While we ran with our successful Fast. Friends. Forever. program last year, our new annual campaign this year celebrates what it means to be Fearless, and embracing your inner Shadow:
But don’t just take it from us, witness it from the Ultimate Lifeform himself as we take you on an action-packed ride throughout the year filled with countless energetic moments.

I am! I am all of me!
