Super Smash Bros. Ultimate 2.0.0 update adds Piranha Plant and Spirit Board co-op

A new update for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate is live, and the game can be updated to version 2.0.0. The most awaited feature is that Piranha Plant, the first DLC character, is available for everyone who has registered the game in My Nintendo.

A co-op mode for up to 4 players is also added for the Spirit Board. In addition a number of new Spirits are added to the shop. Gameplay-wise there are a number of balancing patches. Pushing both jump buttons makes your character do a Short Hop, adding some new tactics.

The update notes for version 2.0.0 are listed here, and the adjustments made to the fighters can be found here.

You can still receive Piranha Plant for free if you register your copy of the game before the 31st of January, so that only leaves today! If you register your game after this date you can still pick up Piranha Plant as paid DLC in a later stadium. You can find the details about registering your copy here.

UPDATE: Be wary for data corruption!

On Nintendo's official subreddit, a number of users are reporting that the 2.0.0 update is leading to a corrupted save file. More specifically, playing the All Star Mode with Piranha Plant can lead to loss of data. Others are reporting that playing as Duck Hunt and/or Mii Swordfighter in Century Smash is also corrupting data.

It's best to avoid these game modes until a patch or update is released.
