Tank! Tank! Tank! is now a free-to-play title in Japan

Namco Bandai launch title Tank! Tank! Tank! has been made available as a free-to-play title in Japan after less than impressive sales.

Wii U owners in Japan are able to download the title for free as a 'basic pack' which will allow them to play the city map, Free for All, Team Battle and Giant Monster modes up to three times a day.

Extra maps will be available as DLC such as the beach, canyon and volcano levels, each coming in at 200 yen a pack. Once you have downloaded any of the DLC, you can play the title as much as you want, with no daily restrictions.

My Kong Mode will be available to download for 1,000 yen (or 200 yen as a special sale price until January 31st) and allows a GamePad player to control a giant monkey monster with a human face.

So far the promotion has only been announced for Japan. If you're still after some free Christmas goodies though, don't forget to go on Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed to unlock Alex Kidd as a Christmas gift from SEGA.

Now, back to those Boxing Day turkey sandwiches...
