The Last Hope: Dead Zone Survival Removed From eShop After Sony Stakes Copyright Claim

Eurogamer recently revealed that The Last of Us rip-off, The Last Hope, has been removed from the eShop. Not only did the screenshots and trailer take heavy inspiration from the hit Sony game, a certain character model was literally a carbon-copy of fan-favourite Last of Us star Ellie.

It would have been insulting enough if it had just been heavily imitating the hit PlayStation title, but it was an inarguably bad game, which no doubt could have tarnished the reputation of its influencer in the process.

There’s plenty of heavily inspired titles on the eShop, taking more than a little influence from more popular games, but The Last Hope pushed things just a little too far, and Sony stepped in to take action.

The game has now been removed from the eShop, trailers have been scrubbed off the internet, and anything related to the game has been removed from all of Nintendo’s websites.

The eShop has been infamous for its sheer number of releases every week, often exceeding 30 titles, many of which are of questionable quality. Could this be the push that Nintendo needs to cast a more discerning eye on the titles it hosts on its platform? Only time will tell, but in the meantime, be sure to pick up Hentai Uni for half price!

Digital Foundry made a video recently detailing all of the reasons as to why you should steer clear of The Last Hope, so if you never had a chance to play it you needn’t feel left out.
