Zelda Claims UK Number 1 Once More

The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom has enjoyed more time in the UK top spot than any other Zelda title to date.

It had an impressive 3 week-run when it first launched, before finally being taken down by Diablo IV, as we mentioned a few weeks ago:

Meanwhile, Zelda’s impressive 3-week run at the number 1 spot in the UK boxed charts couldn’t last forever, and it was finally dethroned by Diablo IV this week, which is available on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One and Xbox Series. Given Nintendo titles tend to be more evergreen than other front-loaded releases, could we see Zelda reclaim its top spot next week?

It then proceeded to do as we predicted, and once again claimed top spot for multiple weeks, until it was dethroned once more last week by the launch of PS5 exclusive, Final Fantasy XVI.

But here we are again, and in the second week on sale, Final Fantasy sales dropped 78% while Zelda sales have increased in that same week by 18%, putting Zelda back in the top spot.

This is an unprecedented run for a Zelda title and it will be interesting to see just how long Tears of the Kingdom can keep up this battle, in what has been a true upheaval of the UK videogame charts.
